GCCW 2016

Report on GCCW 2016

Global Climate Change Week (GCCW) took place for the second time in October 2016. 288 academics, students, and other members of academic communities from a wide range of disciplines and countries registered (including 82 from Africa, 60 from Australasia, 52 from North America, 43 from Asia, 33 from Europe, and 18 from Latin America). 64 activities were registered on the GCCW map and many other GCCW activities also took place .

Meanwhile in conjunction with Climate Scorecard GCCW launched an Open Letter to the heads of government of the top 25 greenhouse gas-emitting countries, urging them to on implement and strengthen the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. The letter was translated into PortugueseItalian, and Polish, and signed by 440 people from around the world.

We’d like to thank the many organisations and individuals who helped to promote GCCW, and everyone who took part for their enthusiasm and commitment. Now we’re looking forward to GCCW 2017 so please get in touch (at contact@globalclimatechangeweek.com) if you would like to be involved or have any suggestions to offer.

Thanks again,

The GCCW team
